Rooftop solar installation in Mohali, Zirakpur and Kharar

Maya Green Power designs, supplies and installs rooftop solar systems for homes and businesses across Mohali, Zirakpur, Kharar and New Chandigarh. Every system is engineered from your electricity bills and your roof, installed to a written specification, and supported through PSPCL net metering, the PM Surya Ghar subsidy and after-sales service.

On-grid and hybrid systems from 3 kW to 50 kW. As a multi-brand company, we specify panels and inverters from established manufacturers to suit each project.

What size solar system do you need?

Find "units consumed" on your electricity bill. PSPCL bills every two months, so halve that number, then move the slider to it. A summer bill gives the most useful figure, because air conditioning raises consumption.

A rough guide based on about 4 units a day per kW in Punjab. Your proposal uses your own bills, sanctioned load and roof.

Is solar worth it in Punjab if you already get 300 free units?

Every domestic PSPCL connection receives 300 free units a month, billed as 600 units over a two-month cycle. For a household that stays within this limit throughout the year, the bill is already close to zero and rooftop solar offers limited savings. We advise such customers accordingly.

The position changes in summer. Two or three air conditioners can take a household beyond 600 units in a billing cycle. Once the limit is crossed, the free units can be withdrawn for that cycle, and the household is billed for far more than the excess. The exact treatment depends on the consumer category printed on the bill.

Rooftop solar with net metering addresses this directly. Units exported to the grid during the day are set against units imported, and PSPCL bills only the difference. A correctly sized system can keep net consumption within the free limit throughout the year, including May and June.

Households consuming well above 600 units per cycle, and commercial connections that receive no free units, save from the first bill. In every case we calculate the figures from your own bills and state each assumption in the proposal. Free-unit rules are set by the Punjab government and PSPCL and may change, so please verify the current position.

Our process, from enquiry to commissioning

  1. Enquiry

Submit the enquiry form, or send us a recent electricity bill, your location and a photograph of the roof on WhatsApp.

  2. Consultation

We review your consumption, power-cut pattern and budget by phone, and advise whether solar is financially worthwhile for you.

  3. Site survey

Our team assesses roof area, shading, structural condition, the meter and existing wiring. No commitment is made before this visit.

  4. Written proposal

You receive the system size, equipment options, warranties, timeline, exclusions and a projected savings range in writing.

  5. Installation

Typically a few days on site once material is delivered, with quality checks during the work and a final inspection.

  6. Commissioning and support

You receive the handover documentation. Service and warranty claims are handled through the same contact for the life of the system.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a 3 kW rooftop solar system cost in Mohali?

System prices vary with the panel and inverter brands, the height of the mounting structure, the cable run to the meter and whether battery storage is included. A firm written price is provided after the site survey. If your house qualifies for PM Surya Ghar, the central subsidy for 3 kW or more is currently up to ₹78,000. Check the latest figure on the official portal or read how the subsidy works.

How much roof space do I need?

Roughly 80 to 100 sq ft of shade-free roof for each kW, so a 4 kW system needs about 330 to 400 sq ft. An elevated structure keeps the roof usable underneath for water tanks and everyday use.

Will my solar work during a power cut?

A standard on-grid system switches off when the grid goes down. This is a mandatory safety feature that protects linemen working on the network. If power cuts are a problem in your area, a hybrid system with a battery keeps your chosen lights, fans, fridge, Wi-Fi and CCTV running. See solar with battery backup.

How long does it take?

The work on the roof usually takes a few days once the material arrives. The net meter and the subsidy take longer, and that part runs on PSPCL's timelines. Your proposal gives an expected timeline, and we manage the follow-up with the department on your behalf.

Do you work in Chandigarh and Panchkula?

Yes, for commercial rooftops, hybrid systems with a battery, and larger homes that don't need the subsidy. PM Surya Ghar subsidy projects there are coming soon, once the approvals are set up with each electricity department.
