Solar for Mohali’s homes and businesses

Independent houses and kothis

Houses in the phases and sectors mostly have flat RCC roofs with a water tank and a stair room. We usually mount the panels on a raised steel structure, which keeps the terrace usable and lifts the panels clear of the tank’s shadow. Most homes here need between 3 kW and 10 kW.

Flats in Aerocity, IT City and group housing

The roof of a group housing society is common property, so a flat owner cannot normally install panels without the society’s approval. Many societies instead install a system for the common areas, such as lifts, water pumps and corridor lighting, which lowers the maintenance bill for every flat. If you are on the RWA, we can assess the roof and the common-area bills for you.

Shops, offices and the Industrial Area

Showrooms, clinics, offices and units in the Industrial Area use most of their power in daylight hours and receive no free units, so solar starts saving from the first bill. See solar for businesses.

Units, sanctioned load and category

The units printed on your bill are more exact than the amount. Leave this empty to use the amount.

Estimates use energy charges at 2026-27 rates, before fixed charges and duty, and 3.6 to 4.2 units per kW a day. Prices are typical installed ranges including GST, not a quote. Subsidy and price figures checked 12 October 2026.

Questions from Mohali

Can I get the PM Surya Ghar subsidy for my house in Mohali?

Yes, if you own the house, the domestic PSPCL connection is in your name and you have not received a solar subsidy before. The subsidy is ₹30,000 for 1 kW, ₹60,000 for 2 kW and ₹78,000 for 3 kW or more, paid into your bank account after the system is installed and inspected. Read how the subsidy works.

I live in a flat in a Mohali society. Can I install solar?

The roof of a group housing society is common property, so a flat owner cannot normally install panels without the society’s approval. Many societies instead install a system for the common areas, such as lifts, water pumps and corridor lighting, which lowers the maintenance bill for every flat. If you are on the RWA, we can assess the roof and the common-area bills for you.

Do I need to increase my sanctioned load first?

Sometimes. A home system cannot be larger than your sanctioned load, which is printed on your bill. For systems of up to 10 kW, PSERC rules say PSPCL should carry out any increase needed as part of the solar application, and you pay the load-extension charges. Above that, the load increase is applied for first. We check this from your bill before you commit to anything.

How long does solar take in Mohali, from enquiry to net meter?

The work on your roof usually takes a few days once the material arrives. The application, the PSPCL inspection and the net meter take longer and run on PSPCL’s schedule. Your proposal gives an expected timeline, and we follow up with the department for you.
