Rooftop solar installation in Chandigarh
Maya Green Power takes on solar panel installation in Chandigarh for shops, offices and other businesses, and hybrid systems with battery backup. Chandigarh is supplied by CPDL under JERC’s rules and has no free units, so solar power reduces every month’s bill, not only the summer ones.

Solar for Chandigarh’s homes and businesses
Houses in the sectors
Under a UT notification of May 2016, rooftop solar is compulsory on houses of 500 square yards (one kanal) and above, and the Estate Office has issued notices to owners who have not installed it. With no free units, a home system saves money in every month of the year. We survey and size home systems now, including hybrid systems where power cuts matter. Subsidy applications for Chandigarh homes have their own approval route, which we are setting up, so for now we explain how to apply.
Shops, offices and the Industrial Area
Businesses in the sector markets and in Industrial Area Phases 1 and 2 pay CPDL for every unit and use most of their power in daylight hours, when the panels produce. Most of the solar output is used on site, directly replacing bought units. See solar for businesses.
Flats and group housing
The roof of a group housing society is common property, so a flat owner cannot normally install panels without the society’s approval. Many societies instead install a system for the common areas, such as lifts, water pumps and corridor lighting, which lowers the maintenance bill for every flat. If you are on the RWA, we can assess the roof and the common-area bills for you.

Comparing solar companies in Chandigarh?
When comparing solar companies in Chandigarh, look beyond the panel brand. Check the system design, the installation scope, electrical safety, whether the roof suits the structure and who provides support after installation. Our quotation checklist lists what a complete proposal should name.
We discuss solar power options in Chandigarh within our current scope: commercial projects and hybrid systems with battery backup, and surveys and sizing for homes.
What affects solar panel price in Chandigarh?
Solar panel prices vary by capacity, equipment selection, roof layout, mounting requirements and installation scope. A full rooftop quotation should separate the equipment, the installation and any additional electrical work.
The calculator above gives a first estimate on CPDL’s 2026-27 rates. Our guide to rooftop solar in Chandigarh works through a home using 500 units a month, and your own price comes from a survey of your roof.
Questions from Chandigarh
Is rooftop solar compulsory in Chandigarh?
For residential houses of 500 square yards (one kanal) and above, yes, under a UT notification of May 2016. If you are not sure whether the rule covers your house, ask CREST or the Estate Office.
Does Chandigarh have free electricity units like Punjab?
No. Punjab’s 300 free units a month apply to PSPCL connections only. Chandigarh homes pay CPDL for every unit at slab rates, so rooftop solar saves money every month, not only in summer.
Do I pay CPDL for the net meter?
Not if you install rooftop solar on your home under PM Surya Ghar. In August 2025 JERC waived the meter cost, the meter testing and installation charges and the registration fee for these homes. The net-metering agreement with CPDL is still required.
How long does CPDL take to connect a solar system?
Under JERC’s rules, a complete application for a system of up to 10 kW is treated as accepted without a feasibility study. Once the installation certificate is submitted, CPDL has 15 days to sign the agreement, fit the meter and commission the system.
